Alongside AdvisorsPersonal Companions
In person, when it matters most.
A Personal Companion is there for the moments that carry the most weight: the first weeks home, a family event, a business trip. By the hour or live-in for a short period, at home, at work or while traveling. Often called a sober companion or sober coach.

What it includes
What a Companion does.
01/Daily structure
Mornings that start on time, appointments kept, meetings attended, the written first-week calendar followed. Structure is the point of the first weeks home.
02/Presence at the hard moments
A wedding, a work dinner, a flight, the first night back in the apartment. Someone steady in the room.
03/Reporting back
What the Companion observes goes to the Lead Advisor and, within the client's releases, to the clinical team. Clinical judgment stays with the clinicians.
04/A clear scope
Companions keep the schedule, accompany and support. They do not supervise, search or restrain, and they do not provide treatment.
Who it is for
Who it is for.
- Someone leaving residential treatment who will be living alone, or returning to a household that is still finding its footing.
- A professional who has to travel, present or host in the first months of recovery.
- A family who wants a familiar, qualified person in the house for the first week rather than taking turns themselves.
In the plan
How it fits the rest of the plan.
Who does it
Advisors with their own established recovery. In-home and overnight work is reserved for Advisors with five or more years of continuous sobriety, verified by references.
How long
Most Companion engagements run from a few days to a few weeks and taper to Ongoing Coaching as the client finds their footing.
Where
In person across South Florida, from Miami to West Palm Beach, and in New York. Travel engagements go wherever the client goes.
Boundaries
Non-clinical support under a written agreement. Clinical questions go back to the treating clinicians.
Good to know
Questions families ask.
Is a sober companion the same as a sober coach?
People use both names for the same role. We call it a Personal Companion because the work is companionship and structure, not treatment.
Can a Companion live in?
Yes, for a short period, with an Advisor who holds five or more years of continuous sobriety. Longer arrangements are usually better served by coaching plus a regular Companion schedule.
Who decides the schedule?
The client, with the Lead Advisor and, where there is one, the clinical team's aftercare plan.
